Examining Andromeda (2012)

This is a close up of Andromeda from the PHAT (The Panchromatic Hubble Andromeda Treasury) project. The original data set was over 16000 pixels wide. It was pretty difficult to make this image more than a mass of noisy stars. It’s still a little harsh to look at.
